Last week I popped by the Copywriters Unite meet up in Manchester. Hosted by the lovely Megan Wright, the evening saw a host of wordy creatives flock to Manchester bar Ply, for a good old beer and natter!
The event was created by the oh so talented copywriter Vikki Ross, with the aim of an evening that doesn’t include the usual ‘buy this’ ‘watch that’ ‘follow me’ agenda you get at some others. Vikki herself says: “Copywriters Unite nights are informal drinks in a pub. No tickets, no agenda, no schedule, no speakers - just fun!”
There were not only copywriters there too, I spoke with a brand manager, a designer and a developer, who simply came along for a like-minded night, a chance to meet people from the other side of the table, or finally catch up with those we’ve interacted on Twitter with for months! Lots of wisdom and opportunity sharing.
Other cities host the meet-up too. Back in Spring I stopped by one in London. The next one is in Birmingham. The one after that is in Bournemouth. So if you love words, or even just want to up your word game or meet cool people, be sure to stop by. Follow the hashtag #copywritersunite on Twitter for all you need to know!
