October 29, 2015 - Comments Off on OFFSET

The OFFSET Festival comes to London this November. It is a festival of creativity meaning it appeals to and features industry creatives from a variety of fields.

I’m a Dublin lady, having moved to London back in March. I actually delayed my move to London for a week in order to attend OFFSET 2015, pretty sad I know but having attended it for the last five years it has always one of my favourite events of the year. Think of it like a music festival just without the bitter cold, camping and portaloo malarkey. OFFSET has always appealed to me on a number of levels. Firstly there are amazing, and I mean world class, creatives giving talks over a three day period and secondly drinking, lots of drinking because, well, advertising. Add a bit of industry gossiping into the mix with past colleagues/friends and a buzz of inspiration that last for months after the festival and you get my drift.

Unite VI : The Summary

So the dust has begun to settle since we took Unite VI to Catch in the the heart of Shoreditch a couple of weeks back. As ever we were lucky enough to showcase the work of 25 talented advertising creatives. We featured 11 singles and 14 teams who showed work from a wide range of courses here in the UK and some abroad. If you didn't come down to check out the talent we can only wonder "what were you thinking?"

It's that time to take this opportunity to thank all of the creatives and CD's that made it down to pass on crucial advice to the Unite exhibitors. As ever the list of agencies in attendance was unbelievably impressive. We had Wieden & Kennedy, Lean Mean Fighting Machine, Creature, BBH, JWT, Inferno, Glue Isobar, RKCR Y&R, Google Creative Lab, Grey, LBi, Weapon7, Karmarama, RPM...the list goes on..and on, and on.

If you couldn't make it then have no fear. For the first time we are proud to be able to bring you a website which exclusively links to the folios of all of the students and grads that were showing on the night. Say hello to Unite Creatives a perfect resource for agenciesand the icing on the cake for our exhibitors who are out there looking for placements and jobs. Have a look at their work will you!?

Some final thankses have to go to our resident photographer Mr Andrew J Attah (whole album of shots from UniteVI here) and our sponsors for the night Graham and his peoples at Purple Consultancy. We can say for sure that Unite VII will be happening in April 2013 so please do stick a reminder in your calendar if you wish to exhibit or come down and discover the next generation. There'll be many more details to follow in the coming months and we're expecting some format changes as we push the event further than ever before.

Fucking Yee-hah.

Unite VI : Call For Entries

We've been promising it for a while now. Excitingly we can confirm that the sixth installment of Unite is nailed on. On Monday 12th November we're inviting the best of the ad industry along to be wowed by (you) the best student and grad talent that the UK has to offer. So, come and show them what you got.

Over the last couple of years we've hosted Soho sessions, we've witnessed stage shows, we've gotten down to Shoreditch shenanigans. Most importantly of all we've played host to over 100 graduate creative teams and singles, opening doors and giving many of them a platform to land jobs. We can assure you that Unite VI won't involve fucking about with format, it will simply rely on the creative supremacy of our exhibitors.

At previous Unite events we've had juniors and creative directors visit from literally every agency in London, just take a look at Unite V which took place earlier this year to see the kind of calibre we're talking about.

We want you to be part of number 6. To be in with a chance of attending as one of the creatives/teams you've got until 6pm on Monday 5th November to send a link/PDF containing your best 3 pieces of creative work to

This November Unite VI is happening as part of the Internet Week Europe schedule of events and we couldn't be more excited. We can't wait to see the cool shit you're about to send. Knock our socks off now won't you?

More in-depth Unite VI detail coming next week.

UNITE V is coming. And we need you!

Why hello there young creatives. Are you looking for ways to get your foot in the door? Your first piece of advertising pie? The chance to write awesome pun metaphors for a living?

Well you have come to the right place.

Unite V is here.

We've been organising our portfolio events for over two years now, and each time we try and make them bigger and better than before. And we think this time, we've got something a bit special.

On the 9th of May the great and good of the advertising world will make their way down to Shoreditch to watch the next generation of creative talent (that's you lot) take centre stage. And we mean centre stage.

As well as the usual portfolio crits and mingling that we always have, this Unite we want you guys to step it up a notch.

One of the main areas of feedback we hear from CD's is that teams just aren't selling themselves enough. So this your chance to prove them wrong. You will have two minutes in front of an audience, to get your personal brand of creativity across. You can joke, sing, dance or simply wow us with your work - whatever you think it takes to get noticed.

We will have rather lovely comedian/superstar Eleanor Conway hosting the event and a winner will be picked at the end of the night. (Of course you'll still also be able to show your work at leisure after this).

Students, join us for the Creative Circle Honours Night

For the first time ever, the Creative Circle is lifting the veil on advertising awards. Exciting huh!?

Not only can you see every entry at (with the award-winning work moving live into the centre as judging happens), but this year we’re also inviting students to attend the awards too.

This year’s Creative Circle Honours Night will take place at Camden’s iconic Roundhouse on Wednesday 7th March (next week!).

Student tickets are ONLY £10 each. For this tiny fee you'll be situated in the gallery area of the venue, overlooking the attending agencies, top creatives and the awards stage.

Yes, there’s a bar up there. And each ticket includes one free drink as well. What's not to like?

There’ll be live music, with the incredible Paloma Faith performing tracks from her new album for the first time anywhere. And Edith Bowman will be hosting the night.

As well as being able to watch the awards, all student will be invited down to mingle afterwards – with the chance to meet some of the best creatives working in the British industry today. And even share a drink or two with them.

So if you are a student or you're on placement and you're interested in applying for tickets, then email with the subject 'YCC Creative Circle Student Tickets'. Remember to also clearly state where you're studying/are on/have most recently been on placement.

The Creative Circle must reclaim its role as a champion of young advertising creativity – inspiring the next generation to be better than the last, and keeping the circle intact.

Because the creative circle is a literal circle.

The people at the top – the award winners, the creative directors, the people at the top of their game – must help the people at the bottom – the young ones, the students, the hopefuls.

The future of our whole industry depends on it.

YCC Visits Sunderland University [13.02.11]

Last Monday saw me, (Dani) travel back to my hometown to attend an employability day at the University of Sunderland.

The day started at 10am where myself and 6 other ex Sunderland Uni students took to the stage in front of a room of full of 2nd and 3rd year students all biting at the bit to get into the creative industries. My fellow speakers were all in different areas of creativity from illustration, to 3D design, advertising and digital design. For me, being one of the oldest graduates, it was great to hear from a couple of the panel who'd only been out of uni a year or so and had started to find their feet. Some of the panel had decided to stay in the northeast, some of us were in London and others freelanced from home - a fantastic and eclectic mix of creatives, perfect for the mix of eager students who had joined us.
